About The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Swansea. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the financial operations of our customer care business which has approximately 300 staff in the UK and 250 Staff in South Africa. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis. Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
General Ledger Management: Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and file VAT returns, corporation tax, and other statutory filings in accordance with UK tax regulations.
Internal Controls: Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.
Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity to meet operational needs.
Audit Preparation: Coordinate and assist with external audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, including profitability analysis, cost management, and financial risk assessment.
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with other departments and senior management to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
About You:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2-3 years in a senior role. Experience in a customer care business or service industry is an advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Knowledge of financial reporting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS).
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
Leadership: Ability to lead and develop a small team, with a focus on continuous improvement.
